XSite Modular CEO, Amy Marks, Moving the Needle on Diversity & Inclusion Within the Subsea Cable and Telecom Industries

An Advocate for Diversity and Inclusion within the Subsea Industry, Marks to be Featured Thought Leader and Sponsor at SubOptic 2019 Conference – April 8th – New Orleans

NEW JERSEY, USA – APRIL 2, 2019 – XSite Modular, the leading design-builder of Modular Critical Infrastructure Buildings announces today that its CEO, Amy Marks, will be a featured presenter and sponsor at SubOptic 2019 – To the Beach and Beyond – Rethinking Global Networks being held April 8-11, at the New Orleans Marriott in New Orleans, Louisiana. As a champion for Diversity and Inclusion within the Subsea Cable and Telecom industries, Marks is raising critical awareness to these issues as a means to expand the talent pool and bring true innovation and growth to the industry.

“This isn’t a question of doing or not doing,” comments Marks. “A diverse and inclusive talent pool is imperative to furthering our collective goals – it’s testament to our commitment to innovation. The people who design, manufacture, build, operate, and maintain these fiber optic systems come from many different backgrounds and they are all committed to making the world a more connected place, enfranchising billions of people and enabling them to realize their dreams for a better income, a better education, better health, and a better life. This is our mission and I’m honored to head this charge with an amazing team on our working group.”

As Chair of the SubOptic Working Group on Diversity & Inclusion and steward of multiple diversity related initiatives, Marks will serve in the following capacities at the event and will be available to take private meetings or impromptu discussion at Exhibit Booth #104.

Lunch & Learn: Thrive not Survive: Shaping an Inclusive & Diverse Industry

Co-Sponsored by Xtera and Global Cloud Xchange (GCX)

Amy Marks, CEO XSite Modular – SubOptic Diversity & Inclusion Working Group Chair

Featured Speaker: Cheryl Teamer, SVP of Public Affairs for New Orleans & Company

Monday, April 8, 2019 – 12:30–1:30pm – Carondelet Ballroom

This session explores why Diversity and Inclusion plays a critical role in the future of the Subsea industry. We will interactively discuss ideas on how industry leaders can create actionable programs to ensure that the industry can move beyond survival and actually thrive through attracting diverse talent.  Promoting Diversity and Inclusion will elevate our industry’s visibility and create preference in attracting top talent to the space, improve individual corporate performance, and drive growth. Marks will also discuss the SubOptic Diversity and Inclusion survey and its impact on future programming.

“The subsea sector must play its part in shifting attitudes – and for sure we have work to do.  Xtera is proud to support and promote Diversity and Inclusion within our industry and to contribute to the efforts of the SubOptic Working Group.” – Leigh Frame, COO, Xtera.

“We are pleased to join Xtera in hosting the SubOptic Working Group luncheon and discussion on diversity.  As an industry, we must continue to open doors to skills, experience and performance, rather than look at certain roles through filtered lenses, only then will our industry continue to innovate and flourish into the next generation,” –  Chris van Zinniq Bergmann, SVP, Corporate Development, Global Cloud Xchange.
